How to get rid of my cyst?

I have a cyst on my wrist. it has been bothering me for about a year and a half. sometimes it hurts unbearably but others times i don't even realize its there. i ice it and a put a brace on it when it starts to hurt again. we have considered getting it drained but we don't know how much it costs and there is still a possibility of it coming back after that. any ideas on the cost? i also heard that if someone hits it hard with a book then it will go away. is this true? a few of my friends have offered to try this. im afraid it will make it worse or it will go away but my wrist will be broken. any help? right now is one of those times where it hurts really bad and my brace didn't even help it. i taped it this morning instead but it still didn't do much...please help.
